Toyota has announced that it has come very close to making solid-state batteries and for this, Toyota has also signed an agreement with Japanese company Idemitsu. This new battery will be better than the existing Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries.
Japanese automaker Toyota is preparing to make a solid-state battery similar to the existing batteries for electric vehicles and in this matter it has come very close to the goal. This battery of Toyota will be much better than the existing batteries in terms of range and charging. Currently, the company is working on this special battery and technology and if everything goes well, mass production of solid-state batteries can start by 2027 or 2028.
Toyota recently said that it has reached a milestone that could halve the cost and size of these batteries. It is being told that, these solid-state batteries will increase the range of the EV to 1,200 km and the charging time will be 10 minutes or less. Last week, Toyota agreed to work with Idemitsu, a major Japanese oil company, for mass production of solid-state batteries.
This deal is very important for Toyota, because Toyota plans to defeat companies like Tesla and Build Your Dream (BYD). However, due to hybrid cars, Toyota is lagging behind these two brands in the electric car market. At present, Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are used in electric vehicles all over the world, Lithium is an expensive substance and its availability is also limited, hence its effect is price of batteries.
