Small nuclear battery will last for 50 years without charging and repair

New technology: Will be made for phones, drones and many other devices

Beijing. A Chinese startup company has created a new type of battery. The company claims that it can last for 50 years without recharging. It will not require charging or maintenance like ordinary batteries. According to the report of Independent, a company named Betavolt says that this is the first battery in the world to realize the miniaturization of nuclear energy. In this, 63 atomic isotopes are kept in a module smaller than a coin. The next generation battery has reached the pilot testing stage. These will be made for use in things like phones and drones. According to the company’s statement, nuclear energy batteries can meet the long-term power supply needs of aerospace, AI equipment, medical equipment, microprocessors, advanced sensors, small drones and micro robots. The battery converts energy into electricity through decaying isotopes.

America-Europe behindSmall nuclear batteries are currently being researched in America and Europe. Scientists of Russia and America use such big batteries for spacecraft and underwater systems. These thermonuclear batteries are quite expensive and heavy.

Battery characteristicsBetavolt said its first nuclear battery is 15*15*5 cubic millimeters in size. It can provide 100 microwatt power and voltage of 3V. Due to their small size, they can be linked together to generate more power. It can work in temperatures ranging from 60 to 120 degrees Celsius.
